What does the Mini-roundabout sign mean?

Marks a mini-roundabout. Give way to traffic from your immediate right, and drive round the central markings, not over them.

Also known as: Blue roundabout sign

What it means

This blue sign marks a mini-roundabout. Approach it as you would a normal roundabout, and give way to traffic coming from your immediate right.

Unlike the red warning triangle for a roundabout, this is a blue circle: a mandatory instruction at the junction itself.

All vehicles must pass round the central markings, except large vehicles that are physically unable to. There's less space to manoeuvre and less time to signal than at a normal roundabout.

What the symbol shows

The three white arrows going round in a circle show the direction traffic moves around the mini-roundabout.

Common mistakes

  • Mistake: Driving straight over the painted central circle.

Instead: You must pass round the central markings unless your vehicle is physically too large to.

  • Mistake: Confusing it with the roundabout warning sign.

Instead: The red triangle warns that a roundabout is coming. This blue circle is an instruction at the mini-roundabout itself.
