About UK Road Signs

UK Road Signs is a free site for learning UK road signs, road markings and traffic lights. It is for learner drivers, people preparing for the theory test, new and international drivers, and anyone who wants to know what a sign means.

What we do

• Explain each sign in plain English, with the answer up front.
• Point out the signs people most often confuse.
• Help you practise with quizzes and, later, a fast-paced game called Sign Rush.

Everything is free. There are no accounts, subscriptions or paid content.

Where our information comes from

Our explanations are written in our own words, based on official sources including The Highway Code and the Department for Transport's Know Your Traffic Signs. These cover England, Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland has its own regulations, and we will point out differences where we know of them.

This site is a learning aid, not legal advice. For the full rules, always check The Highway Code.

Who checks our content

Every sign page is checked against the official sources listed on it, then reviewed and approved by Bikash Thapa, who holds a full UK driving licence. Each page shows the date it was last reviewed.

Independence

UK Road Signs is independent. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the Department for Transport, the DVSA or National Highways.
